Issues/Positions:

My Campaign Issues and Positions consist of the three issues:
Community, Collaboration and Communication.

 

Community

Support the District 113 Community – I intend to secure funding and resources to support the needs of the community. The funding and grants would be used to address the issues of food insecurity, housing improvements, safety concerns and healthcare screening access. I will further engage with the residents of District 113 to identify additional issues and initiate resolutions to the concerns. The families of District 113 need true leadership to productively improve the representation of our Georgia House district.

Support Education – I intend to prioritize legislation that improves the educational system in Georgia. I am a strong advocate for public schools. I understand the importance of extending the same support to colleges and universities. I support access to early childhood programs, such as the Georgia pre-kindergarten program. I will strive to make pre-kindergarten more accessible to families. The families of District 113 need capable leadership to improve the public education system.

Support Transportation – I intend to support legislation and foster transportation projects that reduce traffic congestion in District 113. The housing developments and other commercial developments within Newton County has created a consist traffic pattern of gridlock on our roads. I intend to work collaboratively with all transportation departments, local elected officials and organizations to find traffic solutions and aid residents in need of access to transportation. The citizens of District 113 need effective leadership to assist with our transportation issues.  

Support Community Green Space – I intend to work with the local elected officials to support the creation of green space, parks, walking trails and community gardens for physical activity, socialization and safe play. The constituents of District 113 have expressed a desire for several community green spaces to enjoy with their families. The citizens of District 113 need qualified leadership to bring green space to Newton County.

Support Beautification of our Streets and Neighborhoods – I intend to work with community organizations and nonprofit groups to beautify our community. I will create the Beautify Newton Project, which will be my beautification plan for community service trash pickup, district sidewalks, neighborhood street lights and new trees. The citizens of District 113 need skilled leadership to enhance Newton County.

Collaboration

District 113 Constituents – I will serve all residents of Newton County with the distinct understanding that to effectively represent the voters, I must listen to the people. The implementation of collaboration is the key to effectively serving the residents. The citizens of District 113 need progressive leadership to bring people together with the purpose of working together for the betterment of our community.

Congressional, State and Local Elected Officials – I will collaborate with the congressional representatives, state legislators and elected county officials to ensure resources from legislation is directed to Newton County. This level of collaboration is essential for advancements in the areas of employment, economic development and the growth of small businesses. The citizens of District 113 need collaborative leadership to foster the progress of Newton County.

Community Non-Profits Organizations, Community Service Based Organizations and Community Groups - I will work in partnership with community organizations who share a positive vision for our community. I have established a network of non-profit organizations and community organizations. I will utilize this network of grassroot organizations to collectively improve our neighborhoods. The citizens of District 113 need competent leadership with the ability to collaborate proficiently with organizations, nonprofits and community groups in Newton County.

Economic Development Chambers and Economic Foundations – I will continue to build relationships with the various economic focused organizations that serve Newton County. In addition, my grant writing experience will enhance this economic endeavor. It is crucial that the economic structure of Newton County is strong for all of the residents. The citizens of District 113 need productive leadership to positively impact the economic standing of Newton County.

Communication

Improve Access to Information – I pledge to create a communication plan that allows neighbors to have up-to-date information on state legislation and proceedings that impact their everyday lives. This plan includes using technology and partnering with organizations to ensure our tech savvy and non-tech savvy users have access to information. The citizens of District 113 need proficient leadership to systematically improve access to information for all residents.  

Remain Present and Visible – I pledge to remain active and visible in Newton County and on the state level to engage in state and local issues. We must have “all hands-on deck” during this crucial time within our county and state. I will serve as an active legislator that is present and accounted for in the State House and the local neighborhoods. The citizens of District 113 need capable leadership to stay actively involved in the communities throughout Newton County.
