The Middle Class

Raise the Minimum Wage – Work should pay enough to live with dignity, not just scrape by. Karla believes that a full-time job should cover basic necessities like housing, food, and transportation. She supports a responsible increase in the minimum wage that reflects today’s cost of living while respecting local employers.

Middle Class Tax Relief – The middle class is doing everything right but still feeling squeezed. Karla supports practical tax relief that helps working families keep more of what they earn and better plan for their future. Her approach is focused on fairness, balance, and long-term stability for households across the district.

Small Business Tax Relief – Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. Karla supports common-sense tax policies that help local entrepreneurs grow, hire, and stay rooted in the community. She believes the tax code should reward small businesses, not give special advantages to large corporations.

Affordable & Obtainable Housing

Fight Corporate Housing Greed – Homes should be places to live, not investment vehicles for out-of-state corporations. Karla will push back against corporate housing practices that drive up rents and home prices. She believes housing policy should put families, seniors, and first-time buyers first.

Support Smart Growth Policies – Growth should be intentional and community-centered. Karla supports smart growth policies that expand housing options while protecting infrastructure, schools, and neighborhood character. Her goal is to ensure growth improves quality of life rather than strains it.

Lower Property Taxes - Homeowners shouldn’t be taxed out of the communities they helped build. Karla supports responsible property tax relief, especially for seniors and long-time residents. She believes tax policy should balance affordability with the need to fund essential local services.

Community Investment

Expand Medicaid – Access to healthcare shouldn’t depend on income or employment status. Karla supports expanding Medicaid to close the coverage gap for working families. This approach would also strengthen local hospitals and improve long-term public health outcomes.
